The wheelbarrow has been created to sit with the potting workbench and Alan the gardener to complete a vintage gardening scene!
I stain and varnish the bare wood wheelbarrow adding on black iron detailing before making all of the contents either with polymer clay (all the veg) – or 3D print and paint (the apples the bucket and watering can) before filling the wheelbarrow and finishing with the tools and watering can.
I like to make them look ‘organic’ as if Alan has just been out to the walled garden and done a spot of harvesting for the cook in the big house! so several different items are crowded in together including muddy potatoes, carrots with their tops on, apples and cabbages with the field fresh grey bloom on the leaves.
This look matches the feel of the potting bench which I like to look as if was knocked up in a shed from parts of other bits of furniture that were lying around! Alan the gardener is much the same spattered in mud (but none in his boots as he has string tied around his trouser tops to stop it!) and garden fresh! see other shop listings for the potting bench and Alan.
