The Harewood fireplace features electric fire and hand painted marble effect hearth. The cream fireplace surround is hand painted with green panels with gold accents. On the mantlepiece are two china urns and two lights with crystal effect shades and gilt and enamel carriage style clock in the centre. The working electric fire, ornaments, clock light shades and fender are exclusive, and made by me for this fireplace.
The fireplace is named after Harewood House near Leeds, which was built, between 1759 and 1771 by Robert Adam and John Carr for Edwin Lascelles, 1st Baron Harewood, this fireplace is in the Neo-classical style. The style featured in both upper and middle class residences of England and the United States from the 1760s (in the US it became known as Federal style). The style is typified by Classical Roman decorative motifs, such as framed medallions, vases, and urns, with swags and ribbons in multi coloured pastel shades.
