This model vehicle is inspired by the “Motorwagen” three-wheeler manufactured in 1886 by Karl Benz, considered the first petrol-powered vehicle. Driven by an engine placed sideways behind the seats, with chains sending power to the wheels, it could reach a top speed of 15 kilometers per hour. Around 25 Patent Motorwagens were built originally, the latest in 1893, although production has resumed more recently as Mercedes-Benz has made some replicas for museums which work exactly the same as the original ones.
This model comes with a driver in period costume with leather rimmed goggles, heavy wool coat and leather gauntlet style driving gloves as well as a leather driving hat, and has a small leather case beside him on the seat on one side and a rolled up blanket at the other (in case it turns chilly!) I have designed this man specifically to sit in my vehicle settings, and after making the doll, I dress him – so he’s exclusive to Dee-Daw Designs.
I also do this vehicle without the driver and it comes with some accessories to work in a garage setting as shown in the pictures with the garage workbench which is also available to buy separately.
